siRNAs (small interfering RNAs) are double-stranded RNA molecules used to specifically silence ("knockdown") target genes upon delivery into cells.
Usually, they are comprised of 21 nucleotides with a 2-base overhang at the 3' end.
Microsynth offers you a broad range of synthesis options for the generation of high-quality siRNA. Synthesized siRNAs undergo the same stringent quality control (MALDI-TOF, PAGE) as every other oligonucleotide produced at Microsynth. Finally, siRNAs are delivered in solution as annealed duplexes (they can also be delivered as two seperate strands upon request ).
New to RNAi? Microsynth would like to support the inexperienced scientist in the setup of the experiment and the design of siRNAs free of charge. Contact the RNA-customer service for further information.

Microsynth siRNAs. Example of use.
Hela cells were transfected with 2 variants of lamin A/C specific siRNAs. After 72 hrs of incubation, cells were harvested and total extracts were analyzed by Western Blotting using a lamin A/C specific antibody.
Number 1 is a standard siRNA where as number 2 is a serum-stabilized siRNA developed by Microsynth.
Experiment performed by Dr. Stephan Güttinger at the Institute of Biochemistry, ETH Zurich, Switzerland (curtesy of U. Kutay).
